About the IPL

The NEW IPL at Orlando Dermatology Inc. is the next generation in effective hair removal and

photo-rejuvenation technology. As technology has progressed, research has shown that pulsed

light, in particular Intense Pulsed Light, regularly produces results that are as satisfying as from lasers.

IPL units are non laser, emitting light across a range of targeted wavelengths that are

preferentially absorbed by melanin (pigment) in the hair.

Our IPL goes one step further using super photons of light which are absorbed by the pigment

in the follicles and converted into heat. The heat then loosens the hair and disables the cells

responsible for growing new hair thus creating long-term hair reduction.

Intensed Pulsed light (IPL) Hair Removal

  • IPL is one of the quickest forms of hair removal.
  • Eliminate hair of all colors
  • Works equally well on most skin pigmentations
  • Very quick, relatively painless and very little skin reaction

What Is A Photo Facial?

Photo Facials, or Intense Pulsed Light Photorejuvenation, represents an exciting procedure designed to produce younger and healthier looking skin.

Who Benefits from a Photofacial?

As most of us age we begin to see small but visible signs of sun damage appearing in our complexion. This may include freckles, broken capillaries, dark spots, a blotchy skin color and redness of the face and neck. Photo Facials can be used to treat vascular redness, pigmented brown spots, sun damage, and collagen structure all at once. Treatments require less than 15 minutes. With the use of this exciting new technology, dramatic improvements can now be accomplished with little or no “downtime” and with very minimal discomfort. Photo Facials can be used in an anti-aging program in people as young as 20 years old.

What does the skin look like after a photofacial?

Immediately after treatment the area will feel somewhat warm and pink in color. Occasionally there can be some mild swelling and bruising. These usually resolve rapidly and are easy to cover with make-up. Most patients can typically return to work immediately after treatment.

How many sessions are required?

Generally a series of Photo Facials leads to optimal results. Most patients receive between four and eight sessions. Periodic re-treatments are required to optimize long-term results.

IPL Photofacial Treats the following conditions:

  • Red Complexion
  • All signs of Sun Damage
  • Hyper-pigmentation
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Enlarged pores
  • Skin roughness
  • Acne and Acne scars

IPL Acne Phototherapy is a revolutionary treatment that can clear moderate inflammatory acne without any side effects.

If you have pustules, it would be advisable to do the Acne treatment first then proceed with the IPL sessions. In general, one treatment every two weeks is needed.

IPL treatments should not be performed on a patient that is pregnant, has active cold sores or an infection in the skin. Tanning should be avoided prior to the treatment as this may increase the risk of a complication. A history of keloidal scarring also presents a risk for any laser or IPL treatment.
